I am deeply disappointed that the FY26 Illinois State Budget includes no new funding to help recruit and retain police officers and firefighters. Departments across our state are struggling to fill positions, and instead of stepping up, this budget ignores the crisis completely.
Our first responders put their lives on the line for us every single day. They deserve better. We must do more to support them.
