Rep. Sheehan Passes HR 718, Declaring June 2026 as Fallen First Responders Month

State Representative Patrick Sheehan released the following statement after the passing of HR 718 earlier this month:

“I was honored to present and pass HR 718 on the House Floor, officially declaring June 2026 as Fallen First Responders Month in Illinois.

As a veteran police officer, this resolution was deeply personal to me.

We remember Chicago Fire Captain David Meyer, Chicago Police Officer John Bartholomew, Chicago Firefighter Michael Altman, Chicago Police Officer Krystal Rivera, Chicago Fire Engineer Steven Decker, and all of the brave first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.

Earlier this week, I also had the privilege of sitting down with Captain Meyers’ family. Their strength and love were a powerful reminder that behind every uniform is a family sacrificing alongside them.

Their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.”

Rep. Sheehan proudly serves the people of the 37th District.
