Who Protects Those Who Enforce the Law?

This month, I filed House Resolution 428 to stand firmly behind those serving with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). As a nearly 20-year police officer, I know the risks that come with the job. ICE officers are experiencing an alarming rise in harassment and assaults and even their families are being targeted. That’s unacceptable.

These officers often wear hats, sunglasses, and masks not just for tactical reasons, but to avoid retaliation from dangerous individuals who track them down through doxxing and online threats. It’s wrong and they deserve better.

I filed this resolution to recognize the critical role ICE plays in keeping our communities safe and to call out state policies that make their jobs even harder. Under current law, local agencies are restricted from assisting ICE, and that puts our communities and our officers at extreme risk.

I’ll always stand for public safety and for those who wear the badge to protect it.

Back to School Supply Drive

With a new school year fast approaching, I’m proud to launch my Back-to-School Supply Drive to help students start off strong. We’re collecting essential school supplies at my district office in Homer Glen, and every single donation goes a long way in lifting up families who need support. If you’re able to contribute, I’d love for you to be part of this community effort to make sure no child in our district starts the year without the tools to succeed.

The SAFE-T Act MUST GO!

This weekend, I spoke with Megan Bos’s mother, Jennifer, a conversation I’ll never forget. With tears in her eyes, she told me that the man accused of hiding Megan’s death had been released under Illinois’ SAFE-T Act.

Were it not for federal authorities, he would still be walking free. We’ve reached a breaking point: our laws must protect families, not make them victims twice. I won’t stop fighting until we repeal the SAFE-T Act and restore justice in Illinois. Megan deserved better, and so does every family in our state.

Appearance on WAND News

I was honored to appear on WAND to advocate on an important issue. ICE agents are facing an 830% increase in assaults. That’s unacceptable.

I’ve filed a resolution to show Illinois stands with the men and women of ICE and all law enforcement who risk their lives to keep us safe.

Let’s back the people who protect us. A big thank you to WAND for having me on.
