The 2025 Spring Legislative Session wrapped up recently, and I’ve been reflecting on what we’ve accomplished.
One of my biggest wins was HB1842, which cuts through the red tape around code violations, making hearings fairer, more efficient, and ensuring local governments serve the people the right way. It passed both houses and is headed to the Governor’s desk. I also tackled reckless driving by introducing HB3542, which would ban street racing and enforce stricter penalties.
I also fought for first responders. My resolution, HR40, raises awareness of mental health challenges in law enforcement, and I introduced HB1634 to provide an income tax credit for police, firefighters, and EMS personnel, putting money back into the pockets of those who put their lives on the line for us every day.
Another big win this session was HB1938, which makes sure fire protection districts are exempt from unnecessary government committees. Firefighters should be focused on saving lives instead of being buried in paperwork. This bill would help give them time back to do the irreplaceable work of protecting our communities.
I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished, but there’s more work ahead. My job is to make government work better for you, and I’ll keep pushing for real solutions. If you ever have questions or need help, my District Office is here for you! Cheers!
