May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a reminder that taking care of our minds is just as important as taking care of our bodies. Mental health affects every aspect of our lives, and yet, it’s often overlooked or stigmatized.
As a police officer, I’ve seen how stress and trauma can weigh on people, whether they’re in uniform or in the communities we serve. No one should struggle in silence. If you’re facing challenges, know that you’re not alone; help is out there, and seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness.
We can break the stigma together. Check in on a friend, be kind to yourself, and advocate for mental health resources. Because when we lift each other up, we all grow stronger.
